Carly McIlvaine: Bio

Carly McIlvaine has pursued a life-long love of music in a career that spans the globe. She began by earning a B.A. in Music Performance at American University, and a Masters in Church Music from Catholic University in Washington, DC. While living in Washington, she performed as soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah with orchestra at the National Presbyterian Church. She also appeared frequently as soloist with the American University Community Orchestra in works by Mozart and Bach. From Washington, DC, Carly moved on to Beijing, China where she was the Director of Music at Yew Chung International School. During her time in China, Carly appeared on two CD recordings, and she performed concerts at leading 5-Star hotels in Beijing. Later, Carly moved to Zurich, Switzerland to be the Music Director for the Zurich International School and its Music Academy. Carly also had the pleasure of performing as soprano soloist with orchestra at the French Reformed Church in Zurich, as well performing at a large charity benefit concert hosted by Dow Chemical’s International Headquarters in Switzerland. As a music director, Carly was privileged to lead her children’s choirs in performances at various festivals in Italy, Paris, Holland, and Prague. Then, Carly moved to the Chicago area to pursue further education and performance opportunities. She earned a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Illinois, and even completed coursework towards a doctorate degree. She also performed as a professional member and soloist of the prominent Fourth Presbyterian Church in the heart of Chicago’s “Magnificent Mile.” Now, Carly is thrilled to be living and performing in the New York City metro area. She is a member of the resident professional choir of Lincoln Center: the National Chorale. She has recently been named as an "Artist-in-Residence" by the NJ Council on the Arts. In addition, Carly is receiving accolades for her performances of Jazz, Show-Tunes, and popular opera arias in local cafes, art galleries, and summer street festivals on the Jersey Shore. Carly's work as a singer/song-writer has been described as heart-warming & inspiring.
